About Microdermabrasion
If you run your hands over your face, does your skin feel soft and smooth or rough? The outer layers of your skin may be covered with dead and damaged skin cells that is making your complexion dull and uneven. At the Caring Center for Women in New Braunfels, TX, our licensed aesthetician, Laurie Espil Goode offers noninvasive skin resurfacing with microdermabrasion. Quick and effective, microdermabrasion treatments remove the surface layer of damaged and dead skin, so your complexion is brighter and healthier. This service can be performed alone or with another procedure, like a dermal filler or chemical peel, for more dramatic improvements. In your consultation, we will come up with a personalized treatment plan to fit your needs and complexion goals.

Treatment Technique
Microdermabrasion treatments are completed in our office after a thorough consultation to determine what services will give you the best results. For the treatment, you will lay back in a comfortable chair as your skin is prepared. The tool will run along your skin as it polishes and vacuums the debris. While the treatment feels unusual, it not considered painful, so you should not need a numbing cream or local anesthesia.
Our aesthetician will perform the microdermabrasion evenly over the needed areas and with more caution on the delicate skin around the eyes. As soon as the treatment is over, the skin will be lightly cleansed to eliminate any residual debris before a moisturizer (selected for your skin type) with UV protection is applied.
Other Considerations
Microdermabrasion sessions can minimize the look of surface skin blemishes like dull skin tone, fine lines, uneven texture, clogged pores, scars, and sun damage. It is safe and effective for women and men of all skin tone and type that want healthier, clearer skin. These treatments are usually performed on the face, although it can also be great for the skin on your hands, neck, and chest. This procedure should not be performed on skin that has an open wound or on skin with a chronic condition, like acne or rosacea.
After a microdermabrasion procedure, you can get back to your normal routine as long as you wear sunscreen or another form of sun protection. Your skin will be sensitive, but you face should feel smoother and your tone brighter. To prolong the benefits, our aesthetics team recommends scheduling every 4 – 6 weeks. Some Caring Center for Women patients notice that after treatments, the skincare products they use at home (especially moisturizers) absorb more easily into their skin for better results.
